Baby passenger in stolen car

FOLLOWING the theft of a car in which a four month old baby was a passenger, gardaí have arrested a male in his 60’s.

The car was stolen at around 3pm on Thursday September 16 from Newport village.

A four month old baby boy was in the back seat of the car at the time of the theft.

A garda spokesperson said that an immediate response from gardaí resulted in the recovery of the car and the baby in Nenagh a short time later.

The baby was uninjured and reunited with his parents.

At around 4pm on the same day a male in his 60’s was arrested on the outskirts of Limerick  and detained at Nenagh Garda Station under section four of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

He is due in court later today.
