Three killed in road crash

Gardai in Newcastle West are investigating a two vehicle road traffic collision which occurred at Garryduff in Newcastle West, Co. Limerick at approximately 9.10pm on the 12th Sept 2010.

Three men (all aged in their 30’s) were pronounced dead at the scene after the people carrier in which they were travelling was involved in a collision with a car.

The three men were named locally as, Thomas Murphy and Tommy Holmes, both 32, and Richard Furey aged 37.

Three other occupants of the people carrier were taken to Limerick Regional Hospital.  Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The four occupants of the car were not seriously injured.

The road has now re-opened following a technical examination.
