Limerick ladies reach All Ireland final

The Tommy Stack trained Limerick ladies footballers battled their way back into the All-Ireland junior final last Saturday with to a 1-11 to 0-8 semi-final win over Wexford at St. Lachtain’s Park in Kilkenny.

Dympna O’Brien contributed 1-9 for Limerick while full-back Sandra Healy was named player of the match.

Limerick were beaten in last year’s All-Ireland final by Antrim. This years final will take place on September 26th against Louth.

In other news, the Limerick U/17 development hurling squad, coached by Shane Fitzgibbon, lost out in the final of the Eugene Carey Memorial Tournament in Mallow.

Cork once again claimed the title when a narrow victory over the Shannonsiders in a thrilling final, finishing Cork 1-13 Limerick 3-5.

Congratulations must go to Shane Fitzgibbon and his backroom team of Mike Galligan, Frankie Carroll,Joe Hannon, George Lee, Ger Cunningham, Mike Ahern and John Daly.
