The Winning Post for September 4

-

Another weekend of top class racing awaits! The Betfred Sprint Cup is due off on Saturday and one that we select to run well is Lady of the Desert.

She won a Group 3 race at Ascot last July as a 3 year old and also won the Lowther Stakes at York by 3 lengths, if she is back in that form then she must have every chance.

Her last two runs she ran with credit and did not have the clearest of runs on both occasions I also think the mile stretches her and a good pace over 6 furlongs is the ideal trip.

If the going is good to firm I would be confident of a bold bid off the lighter weight allowance.

Haydock 3:40 – Lady of the Desert.

Kempton 2:45 Laaheb is ultra consistent and is probably back to his best trip around this distance.

He finished 2nd last time out in the Freer Stakes at Newbury when we put it up as a selection and we will give him another shot at getting us the win as that form looks pretty useful.

Overall record of laaheb reads in the last 9 races never out of the top 3 places.

Kempton 2:45 – Laaheb.

The Tattersall’s Millions Irish Champion Stakes is due off at 3:45 on Saturday at Leopardstown.

It is a fascinating race which can go to the stable of Aidan O Brien but with which horse is the question?

The 3 main entries are Fame and Glory, Rip Van Winkle and Cape Blanco.

Rip Van Winkle showed just how good he is when winning the Juddmonte at York last time out, If Cape Blanco runs he is interesting and I would not be surprised if he was in the top 3 home if the prices allow I would back Cape Blanco each-way as a value selection here.

Leopardstown 3:45 – Cape Blanco.
