UNDER the supervision of Sgt John Delaney, two new CCTV cameras which monitor the Steamboat Quay skatepark and surrounding area, are now fully operational. Confirming to the Limerick Post that the cameras, which have been installed to Garda specification, are compatible with the existing Garda CCTV system, Brendan MacKernan, of City Hall’s Community & Enterprise Department, revealed the cameras are linked directly into the control room of Henry Street Garda Control Room, under the direct supervision of Sgt Delaney. Installation was funded by Limerick City Council’s Community & Enterprise Department and the specialist works involved were carried out by the Limerick-based CCTV company, Advanced Monitoring Ltd. Acknowledging the co-operation of the gardai in assisting with the initiative, Pat Dowling, Director of service with Limerick City Council, said that the CCTV will facilitate the safer enjoyment of the skatepark, as a very important recreational amenity for the youth of the city.
