Maighréad creates a buzz on the blogosphere

Maighread is an electro pop artist from County Limerick now based in East London. She has produced new material that is gathering very positive support in the blogosphere. Some of these reviews have stated that Maighread shows “a ton of promise for the young upstart” – Culture of Me; “a fine handle already on the ins and outs of synth-pop machinations,

vocal projections and sussed songwriting” Jim Carroll, On The Record/Irish Times; and her current lead track, ‘Sea’ has been, “a track that I’ve gone back to quite a bit over the last few months” – Pop Culture Platinum.

The aforementioned track, ‘Sea’ has a very eighties feel and comparisons with Annie Lennox are inevitable, yes, her soulful voice is that good! Digging a little deeper into her other songs such as the sparse,  piano-led ‘Try’ and the anthemic ‘Free yourself’ reveal an artist of great depth creating from a broad musical pallet. The uncluttered, sparing production values , playing only what needs to be played, the monochrome style of her suite of promo visuals made by Mark Video, who has worked with Kanye West and Yazoo coupled with her striking image makes Maighread a definite one to watch.
