UNEMPLOYMENT in Limerick is almost 30% higher than in the rest of the country, according to new figures, with an average of 28 individuals joining the Live Register each day, last month.
The number of over 25’s signing on in Limerick city is a startling 60% above the national average and 50% over the county as a whole.
Reacting to the latest figures for Limerick, local Deputy Kieran O’Donnell said that unemployment is “becoming embedded” here, in a way not seen elsewhere in the country.
