THE Limerick Grand Prix made a triumphant return to the city this Sunday after a 75-year lapse.
Four cars which competed in the original 1935, 1936 and 1938 races all reached the chequered flag and crossed the finish line.
Over 70 cars took part in the three-lap circuit.
Speaking to the Limerick Post organiser Colin Williams said, “We thought we’d have to twist people’s arms to get them to come but the owners were delighted to get the opportunity to complete the original circuit.”
Following the Grand Prix, a lunch was held in Adare Manor for the visitors and members of the Limerick Classic and Vintage Car Club. Later the cars and drivers returned to Pery Square when motor enthusiasts were treated to another opportunity to view the valuable collections again.
