It was a real taste of the Orient recently when The Ivy at Halo launched their brand new beauty service, the ancient art of threading. Threading is when beauty practitioners use a pure, thin, twisted cotton thread, and roll it over untidy hairlines, moustaches and so on, plucking the hair at the follicle level. Unlike tweezing where a single hair is pulled out each time, threading can remove an entire row of hair, resulting in a straighter line. Due to a larger area of hair being removed at once, it can sometimes pinch slightly but the results are said to last much longer than regular tweezing.
Threading expert Nesha Pomajda, who has taken residence in The Ivy, is looking forward to bringing this technique to the women and men of Limerick: “It is mostly women who avail of this service but men do too. I have a lot of experience and I know that clients are always pleased with the results as it does have a longer lasting effect than regular tweezing.” To round off the night, one lucky winner walked away with a Dermalogica Gift Hamper to celebrate the popular skincare line now also being available at The Ivy.
Halo opened its doors in November 2003 with a staff of five on Denmark Street. Due to demand they relocated to 41 Roches Street where they could expand. They pride themselves on the high standard of work they produce and also the customer service they provide. Halo were the first in Limerick to offer quality beverages such as wine, beers and lattes as part of the service. They also have a full time and part time academy where they train and re-train every level of hairdresser. Their in-house beauty salon, The Ivy, is where they have a balance of calm and relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The Ivy offers everything from massages and facials to waxing and nails. They now use Dermologicia and recently have welcomed Nesha who has launched the threading bar.
