AN upbeat party in Punch’s Hotel saw several eyes well with pride when the Jeff Power Memorial trophy was revealed. A glass flame engraved with clefs and dedication, this is to be the annual prize of Limerick’s Got Talent’s winning finalist. They and runners up will also pocket career goodies from applebox media and Morning Star Photography after the August 20 show.
2010’s portfolio was revealed by producer Mike O’Connor, accompanied by sponsors Richard Keogh of RK Entertainments, Paddy and Catriona Ryan of PJR Cleaning and Security Services and of course, the late Jeff’s family, Phil and Junior Power with their son Garry and wife Carmel.
Jeff’s bereaved sweetheart Ruth Collopy graced the event, along with Spin Southwest’s John Hayes who will MC the LGT2010 final on Friday August 20, Spin’s judge on the panel Michelle McMahon attended the launch as did, cllr. Orla O’Loughlin and competitor Paul O’Connor who will audition with guitarist Paul O’Sullivan were also present with assorted press.
Friday August 6 is close of entry D-Day. All applications for auditions running Tuesday August 17 to Thursday 19 at Punch’s Hotel have to be streamed through RK Entertainments at 60 Parnell Street, beside Red Rose Café.
“Our judges’ panel is almost confirmed, with Life 95fm’s Declan Copues, city communications executive Laura Ryan, The Chronicle Brothers Mike Bradley and Jason Nash,” Mike told Arts page. “Hollie O’ Donoghue will be with the judges for the three heats also and hopefully, at the finals night on August 20”.
Last year’s winner of Limerick’s Got Talent, the band Animal Beats, is shortlisted in the five to support Bob Dylan’s concert on July 4.
