Woman threatened with knife and robbed at the canal bank

A WOMAN who was walking along the Canal Bank suffered a terrifying experience when she was threatened with a knife and robbed in daylight.

According to Inspector John O’Reilly of Henry Street Garda Station, she was approached from behind by two males, who held a knife to her throat and stole her purse, which contained a sum of cash.

“The individuals were thought to be foreign nationals. One was wearing a grey hoody and the other a blue hoody. The incident happened at 11.45am on June 1,” Inspector O’Reilly told the Limerick Post.

Gardaí are continuing to investigate the assault.

Inspector O’Reilly said that there has been an increase in the number of handbag snatches, not just in on the Canal Bank but also in the city centre.

A definite line of enquiry is being followed and arrests are expected to be made.
