Emutex benefits from valued assistance at LIT

-

“Limerick Institute of Technology congratulates Emutex founders John Twomey and Mark Burkley on securing significant financial investment from private sources matched by Enterprise Ireland to support their company’s international expansion plans which will support high skilled employment in Limerick over the longer term.”

This is according to Donncha Hughes, Enterprise Acceleration Centre (EAC) Manager speaking following the Enterprise Ireland ‘Class of 2009 HPSU Showcase’ held recently in Eastpoint, Dublin. Mr Hughes added that the success of Emutex highlights the value of on-campus incubation centres and start-up business development programmes such as LEAP. Their progress also highlights how the EAC working closely with Enterprise Ireland offers a superb model to assist new technology based companies in their pursuit of new market opportunities at international level.

“Since approaching the Enterprise Acceleration Centre for assistance in October 2007, Emutex has made huge progress. Employment has grown incrementally to eight people as the company has evolved in two complimentary areas. Bespoke software engineering solutions to include telecommunication, telemetry and information technology products have been delivered for an impressive client list. Concurrently the team have leveraged their embedded software and hardware expertise to develop a phone system designed specifically for use in small business. The new solution allows business owners to seamlessly connect their phones to the broadband network to avail of a rich range of modern phone services such as voice mail by email, conference bridges and automatic operator while availing of significant call cost savings. On joining the LEAP programme, the Emutex team benefited from tailored mentoring, group training and networking as they spent twelve months pursuing key business milestones to include development of an investor-ready business plan. This plan secured significant seed investment allowing the company to graduate from the Enterprise Acceleration Centre moving to Axiom House in Raheen and providing the platform to execute its longer term growth plans.”

Dr Fergal Barry, Head of Development, Limerick Institute of Technology concluded that companies like Emutex, Cloudium, Episensor and Resourcekraft can be assured of ongoing support from the Institute.

“LIT is delighted with the success of Emutex, Cloudium, Episensor and Resourcekraft. These entrepreneurial, technology led companies are the foundation stones of economic recovery, developing new products and services, winning international business and creating much needed employment. The success of LIT supported businesses has increased demand for places on our programmes and residency of the Enterprise Acceleration Centre. Indeed LIT is finalising preparations to support a group of 15 new entrepreneurial companies like Emutex on its LEAP 2010/11 programme commencing in May.”
