As part of an on-going operation targeting organised crime in the city area, Gardaí have arrested nine men and searched a number of premises this morning.
The operation commenced early today and involved local Garda Units assisted by the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Emergency Response Unit and the Garda National Immigration Bureau.
The men are in their 20’s and 30’s and are all being detained in various Limerick City Garda Stations, seven are being detained under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007, one is being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act and the remaining man is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. A Garda spokesperson told the Limerick Post, the searches and investigations are continuing.
