Making medical history – personal  health records

WHEN Mary Fitzgerald was diagnosed with cancer, she was a busy working mum with two daughters. Inevitably, her treatment involved multiple hospital visits, meeting doctors and consultants and being on the road for treatments.

“Keeping track of appointments and health information, along with trying to keep family life and work going, was a nightmare,” Mary confesses.

Undaunted, she set about  developing BodyTab, an innovative system for recording family health information. The BodyTab System has two easy to use elements:

(1) A comprehensive medical file for storing the health history and medical information for every member of the family – ideal in emergency or when travelling abroad.

(2) An integrated information tool to learn about, test and monitor family members at home, for asthma, abnormal cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity.

BodyTab has the capacity to hold detailed profiles for up to 12 people. It’s especially a ‘must’ where the health of small children and the elderly is concerned. BodyTab makes a perfect gift to yourself or someone else

Developed over a period of two years with expert medical guidance throughout, it has been strongly endorsed by The Irish Heart Foundation as “a very useful tool in maintaining good health” according to the IHF’s  Dr. Brian Maurer. “Having a comprehensive health history and contemporary up to-date record to hand, in one file, enables healthcare teams to give the patient the best advice and treatment.”

See www.bodytab.ie for more details and refer to UniCare Pharmacies and O’Mahony’s Booksellers where it retails at €29.95, or by online for only €20.
