Passengers escape in bus fire

PASSENGERS from the Limerick to Clonlara Bus Eireann service escaped serious injury this Monday thanks to the effective and quick reactions of bus driver Tony O’Callaghan after he evacuated his bus when it caught fire.

The driver was forced to stop after he noticed something was seriously wrong with his daily service vehicle bound for Clonlara.

Mr O’Callaghan, pictured below with a member of the fire service, reacted and immediately evacuated the bus and notified the authorities. The incident occurred between Blackwater Cross and Ardnacrusha Power Station.

Smoke billows from the Limerick to Clonlara bus just after 4.15 this Monday between Blackwater Cross and Ardnacrusha Power Station.  Bus driver Tony O’Callaghan evacuated the almost full bus and no one was injured in the fire.
