The Limerick Post has learned that Gardai are looking for a second suspect in connection with the killing this morning of Daniel Treacy. The shooting, believed to have been caught on CCTV footage, is being investigated by Henry Street Garda station but a 29-year-old suspect is currently being questioned at Mayorstone Garda Station by detectives under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 following a high speed chase through residential areas of the northside of the city.

The victim, Daniel Treacy is a brother to Owen treacy who was a chief prosecution witness in the trial of five men charged with the murder Kieran Keane. Owen Treacy was stabbed 17 times by members of a rival gang and were also convicted of his attempted murder.

However, certain sources say that this incident is believed to be connected with an incident on the northside of Limerick some five years ago where a young man died. Gardai say they are following several definite lines of inquiry.
