Munster continue unbeaten British and Irish Cup run

-

WITH six penalties coming from the boot of Declan Cusack, the Thomond RFC player guided his Munster team mates to what was noted as a “fully deserved” win over Nottingham in the British and Irish Cup played at the Regional Sports Stadium in Waterford last weekend.

Cusack banged over four penalties in the opening half to bring his team to the half time break with a comfortable nine point lead as they broke Munster 12-3 Nottingham.

Munster closed out the game with 14 men as yellow cards for Cork Con’s Stephen Archer and Peter O’Mahony but Nottingham failed to capitalise on this and Munster added two more place kicks to leave them atop pool B with 13 points after three wins from three outings and four points clear of Bristol Rugby in second.

Munster: Danny Riordan (UL Bohs); Ciaran O’Boyle (Garryowen), Danny Barnes (Dolphin), Eric Moloney (Dolphin), Sean Scanlon (UCC); Declan Cusack (Thomond), Conor Murray (Garryowen); Dave Kilcoyne (UL Bohs), Mike Sherry (Garryowen), Stephen Archer (Cork Con); Ian Nagle (Cork Con), Dave Foley (UL Bohs); Ed Kelly (UL Bohs), Barry O’Mahony (Dolphin), Peter O’Mahony (Cork Con) capt Replacements: Ger Slattery (Young Munster), Pa O’Regan (UL Bohs), Sean Duggan (Shannon), Neville Melbourne (Clonmel), Paul Rowley (UL Bohs), Andrew Burke (UCC), Barry Murphy (UL Bohs)
