The Hitchers will go back on the road briefly this month with Dutch band Cooper and Theme Tune Boy. Cooper make a power-punk catchy blend of Circle Jerks and The Beatles. Since the release of 2005’s ‘Makes Tomorrow Alright’ things have gone exceptionally well for the punk power trio from The Hague including a full European tour supporting punk rock icons Social Distortion and three tours in South Africa. Along the way they’ve shared stages with bands like The Presidents of the USA, Anti-Flag, Electric Eel Shock and Jaya The Cat.
Current album, Right Now! was recorded in five days with yet another punk rock legend at the controls, none other than Bill Stevenson of Black Flag. Live Cooper are exciting, tight and powerfully intense creating a powerful melodic wall of sound leaving the songs running round your head for weeks after.
Joining Cooper on stage are Limericks long lost indie-punk guitar thrashers, The Hitchers who have reformed briefly for the release of their 20th Anniversary Single ‘Austin Cusack’ is now available on CD and also on Download from downloadmusic and indiestore. Completing the bill are Theme Tune Boy marking the return of Niall Quinn – drummer/songwriter with The Hitchers to regular gigging. ‘Rose’ the 53 second debut single was released in late 2009 in the run up to TTBs appearance at Hard Working Class Heroes in Dublin’s Temple Bar and has been winning friends and picking up airplay both local and national, most notably from Alison Curtis and Paul McLoone.
The curtly monikered ‘If the Dutch Had Ireland They’d All Be Rich and if the Irish had Holland We’d All Drown’ spring tour 2010 brings this punk rock extravaganza to a town tangentially near you this February, visiting Bakers, Limerick on Saturday 20th.
