Local authorities from the west, northwest, south and midlands are expected to take their allocation of the salt as soon as it is delivered to Limerick.
Limerick Port began to receive consignments of salt during Christmas week as a result of an agreement reached between Shannon Foynes Port Company and importers Lagan Ltd in the early part of 2009.
