THEY staged the award winning musical, โThe King and Iโ, and โItโs Hollywoodโ last year to great acclaim, now the multi-award winning Limerick Musical Society who are celebrating their 10th anniversary are looking for new members to join them for their forthcoming production, one of the most famous musicals of all time, โFiddler on the Roofโ, which will be staged at the University Concert Hall on March 11 to 13.
Written by Joseph Stein with music by Jerry Bock โFiddler on the Roofโ is set in a little village of Anatevka. Tevye, a poor dairyman tries to instil in his five daughters the traditions of his tight-knit Jewish community in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia.
Rich in historical and ethnic detail โFiddler on the Roofโ has touched audiences around the world with its humour, warmth and honesty.
Itโs universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy and sadness.
Some of the musical numbers include in this famous musical are โIf I Were A Rich Manโ, โMiracle of Miraclesโ, โSunrise Sunsetโ, โDo You Love Meโ and โTraditionโ.
So anybody who would like to join this prolific and multi-talented musical society are asked to come along to Centrespace Studios, Alphonsus Street on Tuesday, January 12 at 8pm to an information evening and the first rehearsal for โFiddlerโ.
