LAST week the GAA circles in Limerick were dominated by one issue. The meeting. The meeting was the County Board meeting last Thursday night in Ballygran. The meeting was held to decide one thing. The agenda was one thing and one thing only. The meeting was meant to see the making or breaking of Justin Mc Carthy’s reign as senior hurling manager. What happened in the end, I hear you cry? The answer? Nothing.
Only the GAA could call an emergency meeting and sit for four hours before coming to the decision that another meeting was necessary.
The course of action to be taken from now on is this. The county board will now meet with the Limerick players. The players on the panel and those who have left of their own accord and those that were not named on the panel after that faithful night in the Kilmurray Lodge.
God only knows what will happen then, but the future looks like this. The board have now heard what Justin had to say. The board will hear what the players have to say, then the board will not make a decision until after Christmas. It will be the players versus the management and then who does one believe?
The stand off we find ourselves at, at present, will only continue until the board stands over it’s decision to honour Justin Mc Carthy’s final year as manager. If that does not happen then expect Limerick to start the league campaign with no manager and no backroom team. Where would we, as a county be then?
To finish. Here is something to contemplate. Is this ever going to really end? Ever?
