THE board of The Hunt Museum has a new director in Dr Hugh Maguire, his appointment to have effect from Tuesday December 3.
An author, editor and archivist who has a work history that extends from London to New Zealand, Hugh Maguire is a Trinity graduate who holds a PhD in Architectural History from University of London.
Succeeding Virginia Teehan as head of the Limerick based museum, gallery and restaurant centre, Dr Maguire says: “I look forward with keen anticipation to working with the staff, board, docents and friends of The Hunt Museum to ensure that this national treasure continues to enrich the cultural landscape of the region and the nation. It enjoys a special place in Ireland’s cultural offerings and I am committed to grow and develop its prominence”.
His most recent position was as Museums and Archives Officer of the Heritage Council.
