49-year-old Anthony Kelly of 121 O’Malley Park appeared before a sitting of Limerick District Court on Thursday evening charged in connection with a shooting in the Southill area of the city.
Kelly, brother to the late former Alderman Michael Kelly, had “nothing to say” when charged with the possession of a firearm with the intent to danger life.
Well known to the gardai, Kelly was arrested and brought to Roxboro gardai station following the incident but a 20 year old woman, who was also arrested at the time, was later released.
Due to appear in court next Thursday, Kelly did not make any application for bail and was returned to custody.
The injured man in the shooting, 27-year-old Michael Lynch, remains in a serious yet stable condition as medical staff treat him at the Mid Western Regional Hospital.
