LIMERICK’s Georgian Market is making a return to the city and the delightful surroundings of No. 1 Pery Square Hotel and Spa. The market will see both indoor and outdoor elements of the market as well as art work being displayed on the railings of The People’s Park.
Following the success of the Summer Market held at the same venue last June, this market marks the birth of a similar venture but on a slightly larger scale.
Event organisers, Patricia Roberts proprietor and MD at the boutique hotel, together with Jennifer Allen and Susan Mulvihill of Slow Food Limerick and region and Olio and Farina, have been working on the plans with Laura Ryan from Limerick Co-Ordination Office and Shannon Development who partially sponsoring the event.
Mayor Keily has endorsed the market and Limerick City Council, organisers say, have been very helpful and supportive of this event.
The “Winterfest” event will run in the city over this market weekend to encourage people into the city centre. This will include the turning on of the Christmas Lights as well as free on street parking and cheaper parking rates in the city’s carparks.
This market is aimed at Christmas shoppers so they are looking for traders interested in this type of business. Organisers say that they are also interested in food producers who wish to sell hot food at the event particularly seasonal treats.
Carol singers will perform throughout the three days with the market open from 3.30pm to 7pm on Friday November 20 and 12 to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.
