Londoner and Limerick man Matthew O’Gorman (his dad hails from Ballingarry, Co.Limerick) opens the Limerick Hair Academy next week located in Henry Street near the Franciscan Church.
Offering both full time and part-time classes, Matthew is thrilled with the rustic building that will house the training academy which he hopes will become a creative hive of activity.
Matthew himself trained with John Frieda, and worked in both London and Paris before coming to Limerick so has a wealth of experience to offer students. He promises small class sizes with a maximum of four people only in the full-time training positions. “The training will be quite intense,” Matthew told the Limerick Post, “as trainees will work on three models a day”. With such small class sizes, more one-to-one tuition is guaranteed in the full-time course which lasts for 20 weeks. Taking into account the current economy, Matthew is prepared to allow students to pay weekly if they cannot afford a lump payment upfront which may make the training more accessible to recession-hit households.
The Limerick Hair Academy will also hold night courses, offering different courses on different nights, with beginners training on Monday and Tuesday nights, colour on Wednesdays, cutting classes on Thursdays, and barbering on Fridays.
