FIVE people were arrested following searches in the north of the city early this morning which resulted in a number of firearms being seized.
A shotgun and a hand gun were seized during the search of a number of houses in the St Mary’s Park area.
Two men were arrested in St Mary’s Park and are being detained at Henry Street Garda Station.
In follow up searches of the area, Gardai detained a further three men aged in their late teens and early 20s after an arson attack on a house in the Ballynanty area where petrol was poured through a letterbox.
