ADARE has been chosen as the location appropriate to the worldwide simultaneous Photo-Walk on Saturday July 18. Ardagh based professional camera man Stephen Power chose the Limerick village, there’s a 5pm start open to all people interested in photography works.
Across the world, professional camera workers, and indeed, anyone with a camera will gather in such designated locations. They’ll spend a couple of hours walking, taking photographs and are likely to wind up at a restaurant or a pub to share their images and experience of the camera.
The event is launched by Scott Kelby, president of the American National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) and marks the arrival of Kelby’s new book: The Digital Photography Book, Vol. 3.
Registration is free to all participants and there is no charge to join any of the walks.
Driven by Twitter, more than 500 trails have been organised across the globe from the U.S. to Portugal, Russia and Australia, from Japan to Indonesia. The pace is already a multiple of last year’s 241 recorded walks, the first year of Photo-Walk. There are prizes to win: the walk leader will award a copy of Scott Kelby’s new book to the best photo taken on each walk. There is also a grand prize for the best photo taken on all of the walks, worldwide. This is a fun, social event where photographers get together to shoot photos and connect with other photographers.
Of the Adare walk on July 18, the NAPP’s Stephen Power says: “The walk starts at 5pm, when the light will still be strong, but not too high in the sky. As we near the end of the walk, the shadows will have lengthened adding colour and shape to the already majestic buildings that we will visit along the short, but very scenic circular route”.
The walk will take about 90 minutes, and will close in a local hostelry.
