TWO teenagers were rescued from a river in the Co Limerick town of Askeaton.
A rescue got underway on Saturday evening when a boy and a girl got into difficulty in the River Deal.
The alarm was raised at a 6.45pm, and gardaí, fire brigade, the Limerick Marine Rescue Service and the Shannon-based coastguard helicopter were called to the scene.
The Limerick Post understands that the youngsters were swimming in the River Deel when a fast current washed the teenagers down-stream.
Both managed to cling to rocks until they were brought to safety. Neither of them was injured in the incident.
