WHATEVER the weather, there is guaranteed to be a riot of colour, atmosphere, entertainment and cultural outpourings when Limerick celebrates Africa Day on Sunday, May 17.
An invitation has gone out from Limerick City Council to Limerick people to head for the attractive location of City Hall on the banks of the Shannon for a day of festivity, which is free of charge and will offer something for all ages, including music, food tasting, hair braiding, sports and exhibitions,
as well as discussions on such topics as life difference between Limerick and Zimbabwe and the role of Irish Aid, The government’s overseas development programme.
The celebrations are being held in Limerick this year to mark the relocation of Irish Aid headquarters to Henry Street, Limerick.
Visitors are welcome to take their own picnic along for the day, or food can be purchased from a range of stalls at the venue.
