Art Gallery ideal for polling -Leddin

THE City Gallery of Art on Pery Square should be used as a polling station in the upcoming elections, says Labour’s Cllr Joe Leddin.

He has written to the county registrar, Pat Meighan, making this request.

“This magnificent building is centrally located in the city and also has provision for disabled access.

“It was previously used as a polling station, and as a building it is well known and recognised by the people of Limerick, and since I started canvassing, I’ve met many elderly people in the Hyde Road, Edward Street, and Carey’s Road area who normally voted in the Boherbouy Band Hall.

“But if the hall is not available, many of these will have to travel to the Model School to cast their vote”.

He is also asking the county registrar to examine the suitability of such buildings as the CIE Club in Upper Carey’s Road.

“I’m also calling on all community and sporting organisations that may have a suitable premises available on Friday, June 5, to contact the county registrar and discuss the possibility of their building being used”.
