ALMOST 3,500 students from Mary Immaculate College in Limerick were sent from the campus facility this Thursday with a view to not returning until Wednesday next due to an outbreak of the vomiting bug at the city college. Eight students reported with the bug and the college was forced to take action under HSE advice. A statement released had the follwoing detalls.
“Despite the fact that no new cases of the virus have been presented since Tuesday the College, in consultation with the HSE, has taken the decision to implement effective control measures, including the suspension of all College activities, in order to facilitate the intensive cleaning and sanitisation of the College campus so as to prevent a secondary introduction of the virus.
Contrary to recent speculation these incidents are not connected to the recent Student Union’s Ball which was held at the South Court Hotel last Friday night.
The College expressed their gratitude to the HSE for the swift and professional manner in which they dealt with this matter and thanked them for their advice and assistance over the past few days.”
