IS IT time to pack up your troubles and hit for Oz? Or even move from the country commute back to leafy suburbia? Save yourself the cost of packing up and moving house by taking on the job yourself. Hiravan on the Ballysimon Road can oblige by providing a range of vehicles, requiring only the B Licence (for car drivers), which will make light work of the costs of transporting furniture and electricals – not matter how heavy the load.
In business for 40 years, the Ford fleet at Hiravan is kept top notch always, with manager Darren O’Brien overseeing essentials such as tyre replacement and servicing.
“We do a huge trade in vans for home-removal purposes,” Darren told Property page. “The Transit 350 with a Luton body is ideal for shipping the contents of a three bedroom house and with a 1.5tn capacity, you can do it all in one go”.
There’s also a longwheel base Transit 280, which enjoys serious popularity for those heading off on a ‘booze cruise’, buying wine from warehouses in Cherbourg.
“You can fill a 280 with 90 cases of wine, providing it is for private consumption, and bring it back into the country. We hire five or six of these out a week to that purpose, people buying wine for weddings and so on”.
An interesting point he makes is that women are his best repeat customers.
“Ladies can be slow to identify with driving a van, but once they try it, they realise how easy it is. Seated high you can see four cars ahead of your, and there are blind-spot mirrors on either side”. With the freedom of the road, of packing and loading how and when you like, and unloading at the other side, it’s easy to see the service Hiravan offers. “You can move house for a fraction of the cost, and God only knows what you save on 90 cases of wine,” Darren O’Brien says.
There is a 24/ 7 back up service and you can ring Hiravan to make enquiries.
