120 jobs are to go at the 4 star Castletroy Park Hotel , following the closure of the hotel today, Thurs 29th. A rescue package to secure its future had failed and the hotel ceased trading with immediate effect.Grant Thornton have been appointed as liquidators. SIPTU trade union is due to meet with the liquidators to discuss pay related issues for hotel staff.
A note was posted on the entrance of the hotel, read as follows:
‘The Directors regret to announce that the company has ceased to trade and the hotel is closed. The decision has been forced on the Directors as a result of the current economic downturn, which resulted in trading difficulties which were insurmountable.”
