COTTNER Technologies Ltd, a Limerick design and manufacturing company, has released an innovative product called the Power Executive. It offers you the ability to switch electrical appliances on and off through SMS text messages from any mobile phone.
This makes possible the effortless reduction in energy consumption and makes savings on your energy bills. For example, send the On text message to a heater before you arrive home and you will be met with a warm welcome on arrival. Conversely, if you are unsure whether you left the heater on or off, simply query its status by SMS (text) and you will receive a reply SMS message indicating not alone whether the heater is on, but also what energy it is consuming if so.
The product also includes a 24 hour On/ Off segment timer that may be used for unattended appliance switching. This timer is easy to use and is fully manageable with an SMS text than can change its On/ Off settings and so on. The Power Executive incorporates a number of alert options, such as alerting you if the appliance you are controlling becomes faulty. This is of special significance when you consider that switching an appliance, such as a light appliance to deter intruders, on from a remote location is of no use if the appliance itself does not work.
This ‘smart home’ technology will also alert you with an SMS text if mains power interruptions occur, giving you the opportunity to save the contents of a fridge or freezer.
And this product may also be configured to act as an alarm system with SMS alert notification. Simply connect it to a motion sensor (optional accessory) and if activated, an SMS alert text will be sent to one or more mobile numbers.
The Power Executive is a compact portable design enabling you to set it up within minutes, and without the need for wiring up costs. Simply insert a SIM card of your network choice into the unit’s SIM card holder and you are ready to go.
