A Spectacular Moulin Rouge themed night in aid of the Peter Bradley Foundation takes place at the Limerick Strand Hotel on Valentine’s night. You are invited to be part of the most glamorous evening of the year in Limerick, an eclectic magical and macabre extravaganza hosted by TV3’s Sinead Desmond (who suffered a brain haemorrhage last year).
The event is a major charity fundraiser for the Peter Bradley Foundation which helps people in Limerick and across the country cope with an acquired brain injury (ABI).
Approximately 10,000 people a year suffer a head injury in Ireland and face a dramatically altered life thereafter.
It’s hoped that substantial funds can be raised for the local Peter Bradley Foundation which is based in Dooradoyle.
As dusk falls over the city on February 14, guests will enjoy a special Valentine’s Cocktail before being welcomed into the ballroom, styled as the colourful world of the Moulin Rouge. The night will feature Magician Marc Oberon whose cabaret show is an entertaining blend of magic, mind reading and grand illusion, Burlesque dancers and a can-can troupe will join fire eaters and flame throwers. Music on the night comes from Soul Driver and exciting spot prizes.
The Limerick Valentine’s Soiree 2009 is being organised by Gráinne Vaughan owner of Catherine Street jewellery store Joli. She said she was inspired to organise the event because of a friend who is being helped by the Peter Bradley Foundation.
“A special young woman I know is living with a brain injury and the Peter Bradley Foundation has acted as a major stepping stone for her and others with this injury to lead as normal a life as they possibly can,” Gráinne explained. “When I launched Joli two years ago, I was overcome by the support I received from both the public sector and the city centre traders. As a token of my gratitude I promised myself I would always support the many wonderful organisations in Limerick who dedicate so much time and energy for worthy causes and I’m hopeful of a great turnout for our Valentine’s Soiree.”
Local Services Manager with the Peter Bradley Foundation, Alan O’Connell said he was delighted with this fundraising initiative.
“All money raised will be used to help people in the local community who have to cope with an acquired brain injury (ABI). ABI affects more than 10,000 people each year and the Peter Bradley Foundation’s community services and assisted living residences provides valuable community outreach services in Limerick and several locations around the country. The Foundation helps people with ABI to gain greater independence and get more involved in their local communities. I would like to thank the organisers and the public for their invaluable support,” he added.
