On a foggy and cold Wednesday evening, the gathered media and press gang at the UL Arena were given details of the extended squad that Tony McGahan will stew over the next 24 hours as he aims to select a side able to overturn last weekend’s defeat to Clermont in the Heineken Cup. McGahan has given a lifeline to both Jerry Flannery and Barry Murphy who both hope to return from injury.
Marcus Horan was also named in the side despite having just recovered from a bout of ilness that last weekend almost saw him forced to have to withdraw from the team. Horan has recovered suitably to take a full part in training this week and is ready for the challenge ahead. All in all McGahan is going into this Saturday’s with a clean bill of health following the battle in France last weekend.
So, the Munster head coach will name his starting 15 and replacements on Friday at noon ahead of Saturday afternoon’s crunch match in the new Thomond Park. The game is scheduled for a 3.30pm kick off where live coverage will be carried on Sky Sports.
