THE managing director of one of the Mid West’s most luxurious hotels has received a lifetime achievement award from the Preferred Hotels and Resorts brand.
Mark Nolan of Dromoland Castle in County Clare was bestowed with the honour in recognition of his over 40 years of experience of managing luxury hotels, having been appointed to Dromoland in 1989.
The County Clare resort also received an Award of Excellence for sustainability as part of the Preferred Hotels and Resorts Global Annual GIFFTS Awards Ceremony.
The delegates from the Mid West Hotel were awarded in Lisbon, Portugal, at a conference representing over 600 hotels from more than 80 countries.
Preferred Hotels and Resorts CEO Lindsey Ueberroth said that “it is an honour to recognise Mark Nolan with our 2024 Preferred Hotels and Resorts Lifetime Achievement Award”.
“Mark’s unwavering passion for excellence, heart for hospitality, and positive leadership have been a guiding light to countless professionals he has mentored throughout his remarkable career. He is truly a role model for all who aspire to greatness.”
Mark Nolan said that receiving the award was “very humbling”.
“My career in hospitality has been most rewarding, and of course, like anything, not without its challenges, and a resort such as Dromoland does not succeed without a fantastic, dedicated team on the ground, so I owe this in part to my wonderful colleagues and their friendship down through the years,” Mr Nolan said.
“There is one thing we all share – a passion and love for all things hospitality – we have accomplished a lot as a team and more yet to do, thank you to Preferred for this wonderful recognition – I am very, very humbled indeed.”
