Gardai in Limerick are investigating a suspected bomb attack on a house in Kennedy Park

INVESTIGATIONS are continuing in Limerick after a suspect device was thrown through the window of a home in a city housing estate on Thursday night last.

Senior crime detectives attached to Roxboro Road Garda Station were called to an unoccupied address on Galvone Road in Kennedy Park at 12:43am on Thursday after a suspect device was thrown through the window of a house.

The incident led to a number of houses on the road being evacuated ahead of the arrival of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (EOD) from Cork.

The defence forces unit removed the suspect device from the house for examination.

A short time later, residents were allowed to return to their homes.

Gardai at Roxboro Road have now asked for the assistance of the public with the investigation in tracing the movements of people in and out of the Kennedy Park, Glasgow Park and Roxboro Road between 12:10am and 1am and can be contacted on 061 214340.
