Limerick woman rescued from Shannon

A LIMERICK woman has been rescued from the river Shannon this Saturday after an emergency operation was launched.

Shortly before 7:30 this Saturday evening, a woman approx 40’s was seen entering the river Shannon at Steamboat Quay in the city.

Firefighters carrying out routine checks on Limerick Fire Service’s Boat – “FireSwift” at the time were on scene within 30 seconds. Firefighters entered the water and brought the woman to safety.

She was removed to University Hospital Limerick by HSE ambulance after paramedics gave her initial treatment.
